Coach Acknowledgment & Player Eligibility IN PLAYOFFS

The team’s coach/manager must acknowledge the following player eligibility rules for the season:

  • Players must participate in a minimum of 4 out of the 8 regular season games in each phase to be eligible to compete in that phase’s playoffs (semi-finals and finals).
  • Eligibility is tracked separately for each phase of the season.
  • All matches are recorded, providing video evidence for verification if required.
  • A league convenor will be present at each game to officially track attendance, confirming which players are present and maintaining accurate records.

The coach/manager understands that failure to comply with these requirements may result in a player being deemed ineligible for playoff participation, with no exceptions.

Game Sheet Procedures

Teams are not required to print their own game sheets.

Instead, teams must collect their official game sheet from the convenor’s table 15-30 minutes prior to kickoff.

Before the match begins:

  • Teams must fill out all player jersey numbers on the game sheet.
  • A team representative (coach or manager) must sign the sheet.
  • The completed game sheet must then be handed to the referee before kickoff.

Failure to complete and submit the game sheet properly may result in delays or player eligibility issues.

Dual Team Player Eligibility Rule

If a club enters both an “A” Team and a “B” Team within the same division, all players must be registered and listed on the official game sheet roster for the specific team they are participating with each match.

For playoff eligibility, a player may only represent a team if they have participated in a minimum of 4 out of the team’s 8 regular season games for either the A Team or B Team.

Players are not permitted to switch teams for playoffs unless they have met the minimum game requirement with the team they intend to represent.

 Understanding the "6-Goal Cap" Rule

Our league focuses on player development, sportsmanship, and fun. To protect player morale and keep the standings fair, we use an 6-Goal Maximum Cap for lopsided games.

What is it?

The game is played for the full length of time, but the official scoreboard and website standings will never show a goal difference larger than 6 goals.

Why do we use it?

  • Protects Player Morale: No youth team benefits from seeing a 20-0 score posted online. It discourages the losing players and does not teach the winning players good sportsmanship.
  • Discourages "Running up the Score": Coaches are motivated to try new tactics, pass more, or rotate players into new positions once they hit the cap, rather than just trying to score endlessly.
  • Keeps Standings Fair: In leagues where "goal differential" is used as a tiebreaker, this cap prevents one massive blowout from unfairly ruining the playoff seeding for everyone else.

Season Format Overview

Each division will play a season consisting of 16–20 total games, structured into two separate phases.

Phase 1: First 8 Games

  • All teams will compete in 8 regular season matches.
  • At the conclusion of these 8 games, the top 4 teams in the standings will advance to the playoffs.
  • Playoffs will consist of semi-finals followed by a final to determine the Phase 1 champion.

Phase 2: Second 8 Games

  • After Phase 1 is completed, the standings will reset.
  • All teams will again play another set of 8 regular season matches.
  • The top 4 teams will once again advance to semi-finals and finals to determine the Phase 2 champion.

Scheduling Format by Division Size

  • 8-Team Division: Each team plays every other team once, plus one additional game against a randomly selected opponent (played twice total).
  • 6-Team Division: Each team plays every other team once, plus three additional games against randomly selected opponents (played twice total).
  • 10-Team Division: Each team plays every other team once, except for one randomly selected opponent. The missed matchup will be played during the second phase of the season.

This structure ensures balanced competition, variety in matchups, and multiple opportunities for teams to compete for a championship.
